Hello and welcome to the first, of hopefully many, Editors Section artcicle. With the website just taking off I will explain what will be regular features on this page in the future, as we are waiting for you guys to Join, upload and create on here. So, the regular features that appear here are ‘The Featured Playlist’, ‘Writing of the Week’, Most Hits of the month’ and my own personal song/band choice of the week by a signed band. All songs and writings will be slightly decided by me, but mainly by how popular the music is on the website and how other members react to it.
The Featured Playlist will be a small list of uploaded songs that I believe are great. The number of how many songs are on the list depend on quality of course, but as this website is new this feature will take several weeks/months to get into motion. This allows time for everyone to upload their music and give the website a rich catalogue.
‘Writing Of The Week’ will include the writing of Lyrics, Stories & Poetry. This category is in a similar position to The Featured Playlist and will take several weeks/months to come into play. Basically I will start updating this and writing new articles when enough members join and upload.
Most Hits Of The Month’ again is in a similar position of the other parts of this article and so be patient and help gain support please! But this part of the article is based on the member who gains the most comments/likes of the month so can be won by any member, be it a muscian, lyric writer, Author or Poet. The person who has the most hits of the month will have the chance to send us a biography of themselves and about their creative expertise.
And Finally, the last part of the artcile will be a song or band that is my own personal favourite of the week that I have been listening to, and I will give a little background into the artist/band/song and why I have chosen it. It can be any song that I have been listening to a lot so it can be from any genre and any time. So this is the part I can do this week! So, my song of the week goes to ‘Grounds For Divorce’ by Elbow. Alternative rock band Elbow have been knocking around since the late 90′s to small commercial success, but with release of their 4th album ‘The Seldom Seen Kid‘ in 2008 they were on everybody’s lips. Big frontman Guy Garvey offers quite belting voice in some tracks, as well as a soft voice in others. And he uses both in ‘Grounds For Divorce’ expertly, despite seemingly having no neck. I know this song is a few years old now and we all know it but I recently found this live version on YouTube and I tell you what, the band and strings combination blows your socks off. I don’t think I’ve heard classical music and rock, with a hint of Opera, go together so well. You think that combination would be strange, and it slightly is, but each type compliments each other and it is Epic. To save lazy fingers I have placed this version of Grounds For Divorce under this article and urge you to atleast give it a listen, just scroll down a little. If not, skip the first half of it. Either way, don’t ignore the build up and then the strings getting in on the action. But even without the Orchestra, the chorus riff in this song is genius, yet so simple, but that doesn’t matter to me. Personally I think it is one of the best riffs made and it makes me tap my feet or clap or do something every single time. I call this kind of song a lost song. I define is as when you used to listen to a song over and over and after time you just stopped. But then months after not listening to that song it just pops up somewhere and suddenly you feel crazy for not listening to it for so long. So take a look at the song below and hopefully you’ll remember how great it is too.
