The Idea Of Underground Talent –
**Note** – The Bigger The Website Becomes, The Better And Faster We Can Make It
‘Bringing Creativity Together.’
Being an avid lover of music and writing I wanted to start penning my own words and tunes and get them out there, as well as listen to other people’s unique ideas. I also wanted to see if I could find myself writing for or with a band and just have a creative session with people. However, I couldn’t find anywhere on the big world wide web where musicians and writers alike can show their ideas in the same place and have them rated by others. Most Bands and writers have personal websites but I believe that putting creative people together is a great thing! Countless times I have heard ‘I need a bassist’ or ‘I can write lyrics but can’t play music’, so if all musicians and writers joined you could very well find your next band or writing project write here (sorry for the pun).
I also think having everyone under one roof is great for your potential future. If I were a music scout or book publisher and wanted to find the next star then I wouldn’t want to spend hours scouring YouTube for a cheeky find, let’s face it I would cave in and be watching anything stupid that has been posted. Or alternatively be scouring each individual person’s website and trying to find them. But with Underground talent, if we are all here then the different companies would all flock to one place, where all our music and ideas are! Also, with you uploading your work into the right category the right company would find you. If you’re a classical musician you’re unlikely to want a Roc-A-Fella Hip-Hop deal. (well you would but you see my point) So record companies would know where to look for regarding the sound they want, or book publishers to look for the book genre they wish to find. So another main point of this site is to make it easier for talented people to be spotted by the right people, which is easier if they are all in one place.
It is also great for musicians and writers who don’t have the confidence to approach record labels and go on talent TV shows. If you upload and talk about your work here with people who wish to help you then you can grow in confidence and ability and maybe be seen or heard on this website!
So, in short (yes you may have just as well skipped to the conclusion) I think that this website could:
- Be a great way to see the public’s reaction of your music and writings and get constructive criticism, and with your work being categorsied you should be hitting the audience you wish to target.
- Help you find creative people with similar styles and tastes to for a creative partnerships, maybe even your creative soul-mate. The Sonny to your Cher, Simon to your Garfunkel, The Dr.Jeckll to your Mr. Hyde.
- Increase your visibility in the world and get noticed and seen more, especially with the ‘Featured Playlist’ section and ‘Writing of the Week’ section, as well as ‘Most Hits of the month’ in the Editors section and Home page.
- Perhaps even find employment via the ‘What Are You Looking For’ section where people will advertise wanting band members in the ‘Wanted For Creativity’ section, and from people wanting musicians or article’s writing in the ‘Wanted For Hire’ section.’
- Make it easier for talented people to be spotted by the right people, which is easier if they are all in one place.
- And it won’t cost you anything at all! It will in fact just increase how many people listen or read your work, which is a great thing. You upload, people like it and/or comment, if they like it and you’re a member they can contact you and you can go from there.
- Increase confidence and the ability of writers and musicians through constructive discussions putting your work on the website.
In the quoted words of Zappa, “Mainstream comes to you, but you have to go to the underground.” And The Jam went underground too…
So Let’s all get together and create!

About Underground Talent:
The Plan:
-To make it easier for talented people to be spotted by the right people, which is easier if they are all in one place.
-To create a place where, no matter what skill you think you are, people can put there ideas and creativity together on here to see what people think.
-To have a great place to upload your work and see where you can go better, or just be told how great it is by people. So PLEASE upload
-To find people with the same creative tastes
Who’s Who in this website?
Creative Editor: Rob Dickinson
Born November 5th 1990, Born in Blackpool and currently at Lancaster University, slightly studying, mostly Partying/Drinking.
I love, live and breathe music and, typical lad, loves the old football.
The reason I feel for this idea is that I myself have always felt shy sharing my lyrics and music so I can put them here (secretly!) to see how to improve and if they are good or not, or where to go next. I also know many other music lovers and music players who need certain members or people to help them, being bands needing a new member or needing a writer. I also know people who write and/or take creative writing who would appreciate their work being seen and read by more than just their seminar group.

Being a close friend of Rob and a great believer in undiscovered talent I was more than willing to make this great website. When Rob told me his initial idea we both brainstormed creating new plans/ideas for this project and I made it all possible in the creation of this website. I also know many friends who would share the love of the idea for this site and I hope it grows in success and helps as many people as possible. It goes without saying though that all this wouldn’t have been possible if I didn’t have a very trusted, intelligent friend giving me help to progress, many thanks to Phil Grayson.
